RecMan coming soon

We as a nation love our sports.  We love to watch, we love to play, and we love to get our kids involved.  Years ago kids would play different sports every season of the year, and would often get involved with local recreational leagues with volunteer coaches who just wanted to teach young kids the fundamentals of the game and life lessons along the way.  But times have changed.

Youth sports is big business in America.   So much so that we are spending crazy money to create the next LeBron James, Tiger Woods, or Mike Trout.  Last year the USA Today ran an article detailing just how much American families were spending on youth sports.

I was never a star, as a kid or as I got older, but I loved playing and I learned great lessons along the way.  I learned how to get along with others, how to strive as part of a team, even if I was not the star, and I've learned lessons about teamwork that have helped me as an adult in my career.  Today the pendulum swings from participation trophy leagues where everyone always wins, and fragile little egos are handled with kid gloves, to ultra competitive leagues where the adult coaches are teaching kids to "step on an opponent's throat" and win by as lopsided as score as time will allow.

I've coached youth baseball and softball in my community for several years now and while I still see a place for local rec leagues there is a difficult balancing act in coaching kids who are advanced and competitive and kids who have never played before on the same team.  If you're like me you agonize as a coach over trying to keep the more advanced players from being bored or frustrated while still trying to teach the newer kids and giving them an opportunity to learn and grow.

After several years of coaching this mix of players in Little League baseball and softball, I've developed a system to help me with this balancing act. I call it RecMan (Recreational Sports Manager), it helps me to be a better coach and it may help you too.  If you are interested in learning more, join me for a live webinar on Thursday November 8th where I will show the first version of this tool, and share some ideas of where it is going.  I promise this will take hours out of your prep time, and help you be a better youth coach.  To Join us mark your calendar for 7:45 pm EDT and use the details below to join.

See you soon,
